“Planes, Trains and Automobiles…” Booth # 1518 MD&M MN Convention Center Minneapolis, MN

MDM_Minn13_4cMy best laid plans for MD&M MN 2012 were surmounted by Hurricane Sandy a.k.a. “Frankenstorm” which was one of the worst East Coast storms on record.  The massive storm has caused irreparable damage to communities on the East Coast and physically changed the geography of the Jersey Shore.  Our prayers are with those who suffered and endured loss during this tragedy and although it is not in the headlines anymore there is still a need for support – please do what you can by donating to the American Red Cross.

Despite all the preparation Sandy stole the day and I was unable to get to Minneapolis for the show as all planes, trains and highways locked up to brace for the super storm.

This year MD&M MN expo is October 29 and 30 at the Minneapolis convention center.  And if the airlines do not cancel the flights, the trains are running and I can navigate the highways I will be there!

Molex continues to invest in technologies that enable medical OEMs options in delivering innovative and cost effective solutions.  In this spirit the Molex portfolio has broadened to include FCT Electronics Group, acquired in September 2013 which brings innovative solutions to the growing portfolio.

At the show you will be able to see an overview of the Molex offering for the medical market:

  • FCT Electronics Group: (http://www.fctgroup.com) With a focus on design and manufacturing of custom mixed-layout connectors and cable assemblies, FCT Electronics Group helps Molex build on its ability to provide customized solutions to a broader range of customers.  Including non-magnetic MRI ready interconnects.
  • Molex Printed Circuit Assemblies: (www.molex.com/product/pcb/pcb.html) Low-profile, custom assemblies offer tactile silicone membrane graphic overlays, copper flex or polyimide circuitry and micro-board components with LEDs embedded under an embossed window for a wider viewing angle, increased visual brightness, decreased light bleed, improved assembly and easier use of curved surfaces.
  • Balanced Armature Audio Receivers: (www.molex.com/link/balancedarmature.html) Ideal for hearing-aid and cardiac rhythm disease management devices, the customizable technology allows OEMs to adjust impedance or other specifications to meet design requirements while offering substantially more sound output per unit size and cleaner mid-range sound compared to traditional dynamic-style receivers.  Also adaptable for compact speaker and buzzer applications.
  • Temp-Flex® Specialty Wire: (www.molex.com/link/mmc.html) The micro-miniature wire, cable and continuous coils use biomedical coating and medical grade base metals.  Temp-Flex supports Molex in developing technologies that provide medical device manufacturers with the maximum in product efficiency, reliability and flexibility for the ultimate in patient care.
  • Affinity Medical Technologies: (www.affinitymedical.com) A subsidiary of Molex, Affinity will showcase some of the customized interconnects the company has developed for its many OEM partners.  Samples will include cables for electrophysiology (EP), ECG, dental, Holter and ambulatory monitoring, ventricular assist devices, disposable and reusable catheter cables and invasive blood pressure cables in single channel, multi-channel bifurcated (two-channel) and trifurcated (three-channel).  Also shown will be examples of custom bulkhead receptacles and custom device-to-device interface cables.
  • Antennae Business Unit:(www.molex.com/link/medispec_mid-lds.html).  MediSpec™ Molded Interconnect Device (MID) with Laser Directed Structuring (LDS) ).  The solution integrates fine-pitch 3D circuitry with shielding in a single molded device for high-density medical applications.  This innovative technology delivers packaged interconnect solutions including antennas that meet or exceed stringent medical device guidelines while providing multiple benefits including reduced components and materials usage, fewer development and production processes, lower prototyping costs and faster time-to-market.  The combined MID/LDS capabilities help medical device designers integrate complex electrical and mechanical features into highly compact applications, which existing flat 2D technologies cannot accomplish.
  • Fiberoptics Business Unit:  (www.molex.com/link/medispechybridcircular.html) MediSpec™ Hybrid Circular 1-by-3 MT Connectors and Receptacles are the industry’s first dual-platform MT/copper integrated connection solution.  Combining both optical and electrical connections in the cable assembly, the system reduces the number of connectors required in medical equipment and devices.   Its three configurable ports give medical OEMs the ability to custom design the connector system.  On the receptacle side, the system offers various options of Molex connectors including MT and LC cables for optical connections; MicroFit 3.0™, MicroClasp™and various RJ-45 jacks for electrical connections and multiple cable and tubing options.

Additionally we will be “test driving” our new booth at the show and we would really like your input as to how it looks.

See you at the show! (weather permitting that is)
